ABOUT ME

The inspiration for this blog has been my parents who instilled in me from a young age, the love of cooking and eating good food. My family's history began in Gujarat, India and moved to Nairobi, Kenya and now to Vancouver, Canada. In the process our culture has incorporated different cooking styles, spices and flavours. It's really a fusion of cooking and flavours. I come from a long line of really good cooks and my input has been to take some of these long standing recipes and modify them so that they are healthier. We eat too much salt and the gujrati/indian tradition tends to deep fry a lot of foods which isn't healthy. I don't believe in deep frying or cooking with a lot of saturated fat so will find that i tend to bake a lot of the dishes that are traditionally deep fried. I also prefer to make simple, easy to put together dishes. So in a nutshell, you will find, easy, healthy dishes that are unique and tasty. Quality food depends on using quality ingredients and i'm the first to usually ask "what's in it?" or "what is it made from". I try to use the best, quality ingredients that i can find.
